BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell bounced back from last night's defeat with a 13-6 win over North Carolina A&T, Saturday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium.
The Camels improved to 21-9 and 4-4 in CAA play, while the Aggies now sit at 18-2 (3-5).
NC A&T opened the scoring with two runs in the top of the first thanks to a two-RBI double from Canyon Brown.
Campbell responded with six runs in the opening frame. Three of the first four batters safely reached base, then Reed Stallman was hit by a pitch to bring in the first run. Andrew Schuldt immediately followed with a bases-clearing double to make it 4-2. The next batter, Charlie Meglio, lifted a two-run home run to left center to extend the lead.
In the fourth inning, Braeden O'Shaughnessy led off with a solo home run, his second of the year. Dalen Thompson lifted a sacrifice fly to center to bring home Chandler Riley, and Lawson Harrill scored on a wild pitch to bring the Campbell run total to nine.
O'Shaughnessy drove in Max Weller in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the lead 10-2.
Starter Cooper Clark went 6.1 innings for the Camels in the win. He recorded four strikeouts on the day and gave up nine hits. A&T starter Diego Barrett went only 3.2 innings and allowed eight earned runs in the loss.
Thompson hit an RBI double in the sixth inning, putting him at 31 RBI on the season.
The Aggies scored three in the seventh with RBI singles from Monge and Dalton.
Campbell added two insurance runs in the eighth with two solo home runs. Peyton Bonds hit his fourth home run in six games when the ball came off his bat at 113 miles per hour to get over the wall in right. Harrill followed that with his 13th on the year, an opposite field shot to right center.
Garret Kangas, Will Palmer, and Drew Siegner combined to throw the final 2.2 innings for the Camels, allowing just three hits in those final frames.
After his first batter reached on a single, Palmer struck out the side in the eighth. Siegner had two baserunners in the top of the ninth, but punched out the final batter to finish the game.
