Camels fall to No. 23 Baylor in straight sets

WACO, TEXAS - Campbell was defeated by No. 23 Baylor in straight sets Sunday afternoon in the final match of the Baylor Classic. The Camel attack was stifled by the Bears' front line, as Campbell hit -.055 against Baylor's mark of .312 for the day.

The loss drops Campbell to 0-3, while Baylor improves to 3-0 after one weekend of action this season.

Campbell hung tough in the first set before falling  25-18. Abbie Tuyo, playing in her hometown, led all players with four kills in the first set 

Baylor had everything working in the second set, putting the Camels away 25-9. Campbell committed 13 attack errors in part due to the Bears' front line coming up with five blocks in the set. 

It was more of the same in the final set with the Bears closing it out by the same score of 25-9. The Camels just had no answers in the third set as Baylor put away 17 kills without an error, good for a .630 hitting percentage.  

The Campbell attack was split evenly between Tuyo, Wolkow, and Clent with six kills each. Maddie Converse led the way with nine assists and Riley Dean posted a team-high eight digs. 

Allie Szech led the charge for Baylor with a match-high 12 kills. Baylor finished the day with nine total blocks. 

The Camels will look to regroup ahead of next week's Wofford Invitational where they'll face Wofford, Presbyterian, and Queens.
