Campbell draw 2-2 against Monmouth

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell and Monmouth played to a 2-2 draw Saturday afternoon in CAA action at Eakes Athletics Complex. Both Campbell (4-0-3, 1-0-1) and Monmouth (3-0-3, 0-0-2) stay unbeaten on the season.

The Camels went ahead in the 14th minute when Tai-Reece Chisholm volleyed the ball from across the box to Luc Lavielle who headed it near post past the keeper.

Campbell retained the lead through halftime until Monmouth answered in the 64th minute on a  right-footed shot from near the top of the box by Erik Reis.

Daniel Osei-Tutu put the Camels back ahead a little over three minutes later on an right-footed shot to the middle right of the net on an assist from Marco Wright.

The Hawks equalized later in the 81st minute on a goal from Gabe Dahlin.

"It was a hard-fought CAA game," head coach Dustin Fonder said following the match. "We'd like to walk away with three points but to be fair points were split. I think both teams left a lot out there in a good competitive college soccer game."

Teva Lossec nearly put the Camels back in front with less than a minute remaining in the match as his header went into the side netting.

Campbell, which has yet to trail in a match this season, held a 13-8 advantage in shots, 7-4 on goal, while both sides finished with two corners each. Samy Slimi made two saves in the Camel nets while Eryk Dymora made 5 for the visitors.

The Camels' seven match unbeaten streak remains the longest to open a season since the 1988 Big South regular season champs started 7-0-0.

Up next, the Camels travel to #19 Charlotte on Tuesday. Kickoff from Transamerica Field is set for 7 PM on ESPN+.
