BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Freshman midfielder Abby Connolly was selected as a CAA Co-Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
The Thomasville, N.C. native added a goal and an assist this week to her season total, helping the Camels to a 2-0 record to begin the CAA conference slate.
Her 64th minute goal from outside the box against UNCW on Thursday provided insurance in the 2-0 win over the Seahawks.
On Sunday, Connolly won possession in the attacking third against Hampton in the 52nd minute, setting up Alyssa Tucker's second goal of the day.
Connolly is the second CAA weekly award winner for the Camels this season, joining Sierra Vance who was named the defensive player of the week earlier this year.
In the current three game win streak, Connolly has contributed one goal and two assists. Over the course of the season, she has three goals and three assists. She is third on the team with nine points, trailing Tucker and senior Kaleigh Backlund.
The other CAA weekly winners are:
Offensive Player of the Week: Ivey Crain, William & Mary
Defensive Player of the Week: Joella Chase, Drexel
Co-Rookies of the Week: Katie Bisgrove, Elon; Abby Connolly, Campbell
The Camels are back on the pitch on Sunday, as they host Stony Brook at 1:00 at Eakes Athletics Complex in their Salute to Service game.
