Camels place first at Wilmington Beach Blast 5k

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Campbell men and women placed first at its first meet of the season on Friday night at the Wilmington Beach Blast 5k.

Campbell had four runners place in the top ten, with Emily Pierce placing first for the women with a time of 18:37.9. In her first career race, Abby Reutinger placed second with a time of 19:30.4. Freshman Claire Hartigan placed sixth with a time of 19:54.5, and Samantha Sproul placed ninth with a time of 20:04.7.

Hudson Hayes had the fastest time for the men, placing third with a time of 16:01.1, and Andrew Barrett right behind with a time of 16:09.3. Freshman Craig Costa placed sixth with a time of 16:12.4 with freshman Brett Walston placing ninth with a time of 16:22.3 and William Sanchez placed 10th with a time of 16:22.5.

The Campbell men and women both placed first overall.

The Camels will return to the XC course for the ECU Pirate Invitational on October 4th in Greenville, N.C.
