Camels defeated at Elon

ELON, N.C. - Colby Duggan poured in 29 points but it wasn't enough as Campbell came up short in an 81-68 loss at Elon Monday night.

The loss drops Campbell to 7-10, 2-2 while Elon moves to 12-5, 3-1 in the CAA.

Duggan continued his hot streak thanks to connecting on three triples and going a perfect 8-8 at the line. The sophomore is now averaging 20.5 ppg through the first two weekends of conference play.

The first seven minutes of the game were played at a frenetic pace as both teams traded buckets back-and-forth early. Things settled in but Campbell struggled to get stops with Elon shooting 59% in the first half and coming up with 11 early second chance points. Meanwhile, Campbell found opportunities to get out and run with 12 early fastbreak points thanks to five first-half steals. After trailing by as many as 13, a late surge by Campbell cut the deficit to single digits at 42-34 at the half.

Colby Duggan had a blistering start to the second half and scored the Camels first 14 points coming out of the locker room and helped Campbell make it a two-score game. The Camels stayed within striking distance for most of the second half until roughly two minutes to go when Elon reached its largest lead of the night at 17 points before the final of 81-68.

Campbell turned it over a season-best five times on the night against Elon's primarily zone defense, while forcing Elon into 11 total turnovers. Campbell also dished out 16 total assists on 25 made shots.

Duggan led three players in double figures, joined by Jasin Sinani with 13 and Gregory with 11. Both Sinani and Gregory each dished out four assists as well.

Sam Sherry led the way for Elon with 23 points on 8-9 FG, 3-3 3FG and added 10 boards for his double-double. Nick Dorn scored 22 and connected on five threes on the night.
