Camels earn 25-point win at Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - A big first half propelled Campbell to a 79-54 win over Stony Brook Thursday night on Long Island. Colby Duggan led the effort with 27 points on 11-14 shooting, including 5-7 from downtown.

The win takes Campbell to 9-11, 4-3 in the CAA. Stony Brook falls to 4-16, 0-7 in the league.

The 25-point win is Campbell's fourth-largest conference road win in program history, and now gives Campbell three true road wins of 20 or more points, the most in a single season in the program's D1 era.

Things started on the defensive end with Campbell in the first half, forcing the Seawolves into 10 first-half turnovers, resulting in a 17-0 points-off-turnovers edge for the Camels early on. Those easy buckets helped Campbell shoot better than 50% in the first half. Colby Duggan led the way with 16 points on 7-10 shooting at the break to help Campbell to a 41-19 halftime break.

The second half was played more evenly, despite Campbell shooting 64%, but the 22-point halftime cushion was plenty for Campbell to earn the win. After doing most of their work in the paint in the first half, the Camels used the three-ball more after halftime, going 6-11 from distance. Duggan and Caleb Zurliene led the way in the second with 11 points each as Campbell closed out the 79-54 win.

Duggan's 27 points marks his fifth 20-point game of the season, all coming since Christmas, and raises his scoring average to 20.1 points per game in CAA play. He was joined in double figures by Zurliene with 13 off the bench, and Walsh with 10 in his first start of the season. Nolan Dorsey hauled in 12 rebounds for the second straight game to match a season high.

Stony Brook was led by Andre Snoddy's 11, and 10 from Ben Wight.

Campbell's 10 made three-pointers are its most in CAA play this season, falling at a 43% clip on the night as well.

The Camels stay on Long Island for the weekend and await a matchup with Hofstra Saturday at noon. That one will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network.
