STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Zaida Gonzalez scored 22 points to lead Stony Brook past Campbell 75-70 Sunday afternoon at Island Federal Arena.
Courtney Dahlquist and Gianni Boone each scored 21 points for Campbell (10-9, 3-4) while Stony Brook (10-9, 5-3) finished with five scorers in double-figures.
Stony Brook jumped out to a 20-10 lead in the first quarter, connecting on 9-of-17 shots while holding the Camels scoreless for the final 4:57 of the period.
Campbell responded in the second quarter by making 57.9 percent (11-of-19) while holding the Seawolves to 4-of-11 shooting overall. Gemma Nunez recorded six of her nine first half assists in the second period.
The Seawolves opened the third quarter with a 15-4 run, taking a 11 point lead over the Camels. Campbell answered with a 12-0 run, capped off by a lead-taking three from Dahlquist.
Gonzalez scored 11 points in the fourth quarter, highlighted by a three with 44 seconds remaining to put the Seawolves up by two. After a missed on the other end by the Camels, Gonzalez drew a foul and knocked down a pair of free throws with 19 seconds remaining.
Dahlquist's 21 points set a career high as the senior made 8-of-14 shots overall and went 5-of-8 from behind the arc. Boone tied her career-best scoring mark, scoring her 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting overall. Jasmine Felton added 10 points, four boards and three steals off the bench while Nunez finished with a career-high 12 assists.
The Seawolves shot 47.5 percent (28-of-59) from the field, made 6-of-18 threes and went 13-of-18 from the charity stripe. Campbell made 46.2 percent (30-of-65) of its shots overall and 32.0 percent (8-of-25) from three.
Stony Brook held a 40-31 edge on the boards and outscored the Camels 16-11 on second chance points.
Campbell returns to action back in Buies Creek on Friday, Jan. 31 at 7 PM against Monmouth.
