STONY BROOK, NY - The Fighting Camels picked up the weekend sweep of Stony Brook and earned their sixth straight CAA victory Saturday at Stony Brook. The Camels dropped the first set but bounced back to take the next three and win the four-set contest.
Campbell improves to 15-5, 8-2 in the CAA.
Maja Daca led the way with 14 kills, while
Maddie Lambers turned in 12 on an efficient .525 hitting percentage.
Hailey Heytvelt also had an efficient day with eight kills on .727 hitting.
The Camels dropped the first set 26-24. Campbell had a chance to go up early at 24-20, but allowed a 6-0 Seawolves run to take the first set 26-24.
Campbell flipped the script and avoided going down 2-0 with a 26-24 second set win of its own. This time it was Stony Brook with match point before a 3-0 CU run featuring two kills from Daca and a block by Tupy and Lambers.
The Camels got stronger in the late stages, winning the third set 25-18 and the fourth set 25-16.
Campbell rolled to the end of the match, leading by two at 16-14, but put together a 9-1 run to close out the day and the weekend sweep.
The setters split the workload evenly, with Pattie logging 19 and Wheeler posting a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs.
Bella Illig led the defense with 17 digs.
Campbell returns to action next weekend back in Buies Creek to take on Elon. First serve on Halloween night is slated for 6pm, with Saturday getting underway at 3 o'clock.
