BUIES CREEK – The Camels earned their seventh consecutive win with a 3-0 sweep of Elon Friday night in Gore Arena.
Campbell improves to 17-5, 9-2 with the win. Elon falls to 5-17, 3-8 with the loss.
Campbell hit .389 as a team, the second-best mark of the season.
Maja Daca led the way with 12 kills on .476 hitting.
Gwen Wolkow also logged 11 kills on .391.
Hailey Heytvelt put away seven kills on .600 hitting.
The Camels pulled away late in the first set to earn the early advantage. The Phoenix pulled to within one at 20-19 before Campbell put together a 5-1 run to finish the set 25-20.
Campbell needed another strong close to pick up the second set. This time it was CU trailing 19-18 before a late surge featuring aces from
Hannah Pattie and
Olivia Miller got the Camels to the finish line 25-22.
It was all Campbell in the third set, winning it 25-13. Campbell hit a blistering .800 as a team with 16 kills on just 20 swings in the third to put things away. Campbell closed on a 7-0 run thanks to a six-point serving streak from
Sadie Johnston to finish the night.
The Camels are back in action Saturday at 3 p.m. to round out the series with Elon.
