Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Campbell’s unbeaten streak ends at six with 1-0 loss to Charlotte

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Denis Krioutchenkov's 63rd minute goal proved to be the difference, as Campbell fell to Charlotte, 1-0, Tuesday night at Eakes Athletics Complex.

Jemone Barclay dribbled the ball down the left side toward the endline before crossing it into the box, where Krioutchenkov met the ball at the near post and poked it with his right foot into the net at the far post.

The loss is Campbell's (5-3-4) first since falling 1-0 to No. 4 Wake Forest on September 9. The 49ers (5-3-2) have won two in a row and are unbeaten in their last three matches.

The Camels put more pressure on the Charlotte defense throughout the night, outshooting the 49ers 14-6. Charlotte goalkeeper Leo Stritter was up to the task presented to him, coming away with five saves on the night.

CU's two best chances on the night came in the second half, both by way of Kristijan Bandur. In the 52nd minute, Bandur met a cross near the six-yard box and headed it towards goal , but he just missed the frame and sent it off the crossbar.

Shortly after, in the 54th minute, the ball found its way to Bandur in the box, where he sent a low shot towards the left side of goal. The shot beat the keeper, but a Charlotte defender was there to prevent it from going across the line.

Filipe Matos joined Bandur with three shots on the night, and Emilio Garza and Sam Roberson each put two efforts towards goal.

Charlotte played the more physical of the two teams, committing 17 fouls against Campbell's 13. Campbell also held the corner kick advantage, 3-2.
