CHAMPS! Camels claim share of regular season title

GREENSOBORO, NC – The Campbell Fighting Camels clinched at least a share of the 2025 CAA Regular Season title with a five-set victory over NC A&T Friday night. The win marks Campbell's second-ever regular season crown, following only the 2022 squad.

The Camels have an opportunity to win the regular season title outright with a win or a Hofstra loss tomorrow.

Campbell (21-5, 13-2) have now won 11 consecutive matches, the program's longest win streak since 1997.

Gwen Wolkow led the way with a double-double effort of 15 kills and 12 digs. Aley Clent was a force at the net against a high-octane offense, coming up with eight blocks on the evening.

The Aggies took the opening set 25-20 behind four kills from both Tyne Ross and Mikala Sampson. Both teams committed four service errors, but A&T came away with three aces to Campbell's zero to help nab the early advantage.

Campbell battled to earn a 26-24 second-set victory and even the score at 1-1. The Camels led by as many as five early before finding themselves trailing 23-22. Aley Clent stepped up with a kill and solo block to give the Camels the lead, before Sadie Johnston finished off the set with an ace.

The service line was Campbell's best friend in the third set, serving seven errors in the frame. Maja Daca changed the momentum with five straight aces, taking Campbell from down two to up three, a lead they would not relinquish. Campbell rolled from there, taking the third 25-16.

NC A&T answered in a big way, taking the fourth set 25-14. The Camels hit .030 while struggling to stop the Aggies who hit .310 in the frame.

Campbell entered the fifth set with a good track record in five-setters at 4-0 coming in. That held up as the Camels battled to take the final frame 15-12.  Abbie Tuyo had a relatively quite night, but came alive late with back-to-back kills to take the score from 12-11 to 14-12 Campbell. The Camels turned to Wolkow for the finishing touch, who found the floor to deliver Campbell a share of the title.

Neither team was perfect from the service line, with A&T committing 16 errors and Campbell committing 14. The Camels did come away with nine total aces, thanks to a season-best six from Daca, the CAA's leader in the category.

Campbell and the Aggies return for the regular season finale Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
