BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Camels are in Chicago for the WellNow Blue Demon Classic, hosted by DePaul.
 
The Camels will face off with the Northern Colorado Bears on Friday afternoon before playing either Grambling State or the host, DePaul, in Saturday's matchup.

Last Time Out: Campbell overcame another first quarter deficit to earn its third consecutive win, and first road win of the season, with a 68-61 victory at Furman Sunday night. The Camels once again controlled the second quarter, allowing Furman just 10 points while scoring 23. Campbell built a 20-point lead in the third quarter, going 4-of-4 from beyond the arc in the frame. Jasmine Felton set a new career high with 24 points, which is also her first career 20-point game.   
 
Scouting the Opponent: Northern Colorado is 3-1 on the season and coming off a 56-53 loss to Denver. This will be the Bears' first contest outside their home arena. Neenah George is averaging 14.8 points to lead the squad. Tatum West is a force in the post, pulling down 8.8 rebounds per game to go along with 9.5 points on 60% shooting.
 
Series History: This is the first-ever matchup between the Camels and the Bears.
 
Felton on Fire: Jasmine Felton was unstoppable against the Paladins, going 8-of-11 from the field, 3-of-5 from beyond the arc and 5-of-5 at the free throw line. At 52% shooting on the year, she ranks second in the CAA.
 
Leading the Conference: Campbell is second in the CAA in fouls per game (14.8), rebound margin (8.0), off. rebounds per game (18.6), scoring margin (14.2) and three pointers per game (7.0). The team's offensive rebounding mark is 13th in the country. The team is third in the league in FG% defense (35.3), rebounds per game (42.0) and scoring defense (54.6). Jasmine Felton is second in the CAA in FG% (52.0). Ciara Alexander is second in total rebounds (36) and offensive rebounds per game (5.0) - a mark that is 12th in the NCAA.
 
CAA Standout: Freshman Jasmine Nivar was named the CAA Rookie of the Week this past Monday after averaging 13.7 points and 5.0 rebounds over the first three games. Her efforts continue a trend for Coach Fisher's squad, which won six CAA ROTW awards last season.
 
National Nivar: Jasmine Nivar was named to the Tamika Catchings Award preseason watch list by the USBWA. She is one of 20 student athletes on the list and just one of two from a mid-major program.  
 
Freshman 20-piece: Freshman Jasmine Nivar led the Camels with 20 points against Tulane. She's the first freshman to score 20 points in a season opener at Campbell. She became just the fifth freshman since 2009 to score 20 points in any game.
 
Preseason Accolades: Senior Gianni Boone was named to the preseason All-CAA First Team. The Camels, who finished last year as the CAA runner-up, were picked to finish fourth in the preseason coaches' poll.
 
20 Win Season: The Camels went 22-13 last year, marking the fifth time in nine seasons that Coach Fisher has led the squad to 20+ wins.
 
Top Trio Returns: The trio of Ciara Alexander, Olivia Tucker and Jasmine Felton, the top freshmen trio in the CAA last year, return for their sophomore campaigns in Buies Creek.
 
Impact Newcomers: Campbell welcomes a trio of freshmen to Buies Creek: Keaton Rikard, N'na Konate and Jasmine Nivar. The team also brings in Ashleigh Battle, a transfer from Eastern Florida State College.
 
A Summer Abroad: Konate and Nivar competed internationally this season. Konate participated with Switzerland at U20 Eurobasket, helping the Swiss to a 5-2 record in the tournament. Nivar played with the Puerto Rico U18 squad at GLOBL Jam.
 
Decade under Fisher: Head Coach Ronny Fisher enters his 10^th season at the helm in Buies Creek. He has amassed a 176-105 record and has twice led Campbell to a program record 23 wins in a season.
 
Built on Defense: Campbell is the only program in the nation to be ranked in the top-25 in scoring defense in eight of the past nine seasons. In the Ronny Fisher era, Campbell has held 42 opponents to 40 points or less and 109 opponents to 50 points or less.
