Camels advance to title game with five-set win

TOWSON, MD. – Campbell punched its ticket to the CAA Championship game with a five-set win over Stony Brook in the CAA semifinals. It's Campbell's first trip to the CAA title game, and first since a trip to the Big South title in 2022.

The Camels move on to face top-seeded Hofstra in the CAA Championship game tomorrow night at 7pm.

Campbell improves to 22-6 on the year, marking the highest win total of Greg Goral's tenure, and the most wins in a season since 1997. The win was also No. 200 of Goral's career, adding to his already program-record wins mark.

Gwen Wolkow had a huge day with 13 kills, a team-high 20 digs, and three service aces. Maja Daca led the offense with 15 kills. Aley Clent came up big on defense with a career-best nine blocks to go with 11 kills.

Campbell took the early advantage winning the first set 25-22. The Camels hit .289 in the opening frame, with three different Camels logging four kills apiece.

Stony Brook evened the score in a 25-20 second set. Campbell's offense slowed in the second, and hit only .059. Campbell trailed by as many as eight in the frame and was too much for the Camels to overcome and put any real pressure on the Seawolves.

It was more of the same with the Seawolves taking the third set by the same 25-20 score.

Campbell kept the match going with a 25-21 fourth set. Aley Clent came up big down the stretch with a pair of blocks and a kill, one of the blocks the final point to send the match to the deciding fifth frame.

Campbell stayed unbeaten in fifth sets this year, taking tonight's fifth 15-9. The Camels never trailed in the final set, and led for good after going up 5-4. Victoria Tupy tooled a block for the final kill to send the Camels to the CAA championship for the first time.

The Camels are now 6-0 in five-set matches this season, including 2-0 in five-setters against Stony Brook.

Kali Moore carried the Seawolves with a match-high 27 kills along with 14 digs.

Campbell will now look for its second-ever tournament title and trip to the NCAA Tournament, following the 2021 squad.
