Camels fall at Wake Forest

Winston-Salem, NC – Campbell struggled to make things click on either end of the floor in a 99-51 loss at Wake Forest Tuesday night.

Campbell falls to 3-4 on the season, while Wake improves to 5-2.

The Demon Deacons shot 54% from the floor and 41% from beyond the arc at 12-29 on the night. On the flip side, Campbell was just 27% from the floor and 15% from distance.

Wake Forest raced out to an early 8-0 lead and never looked back en route to a 27-point halftime lead at 50-23.

It was a stark shooting difference in the first half, with Wake Forest shooting 7-17 from three, while the Camels were just 2-15. Campbell connected on only seven field goals in the opening 20 minutes. Chris Fields Jr. led Campbell with six points and seven boards at the break.

It was more of the same in the second half, as Wake hit five more threes and put up 49 more points. Campbell shot marginally better, but led to only 28 points in what turned into the 99-51 final.

Chris Fields Jr. and Dovydas Butka each notched 12 points for the Camels, with Fields leading the way on the glass with nine boards.

Juke Harris paced the Deacs with 17 points thanks to 5-9 from downtown.

Campbell gets a week off at Thanksgiving as they prepare for another road test against a power conference foe, traveling to Penn State next Tuesday, Dec. 2. That game is set for 6 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
