BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Tyler Hughes' nine-yard touchdown run in overtime lifted visiting William & Mary over Campbell, 30-27, on Saturday at Barker-Lane Stadium.
The Tribe (6-4, 5-2 CAA) trailed 24-13 with 7:49 to go in the third before outscoring the Camels (2-8, 2-4 CAA) 11-0 in the fourth quarter, sending the game to overtime on Keegan Shackford's third field goal of the day, a 38-yarder.
Rashad Raymond's two-yard TD, set up by a 51-yard strike from Hughes to Armon Wright, followed by a successful two-point try from Hughes to Haven Mullins, brought the Tribe back within striking distance at 24-21 with 1:51 to play in regulation. W&M recovered the ensuing on-side kick to set up Shackford's kick.
Campbell scored on four of its first six drives of the game, including a pair of rushing touchdowns from
JJ Cowan, to take a 24-13 lead before William & Mary's 11 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
Alex Crabb chipped in a 23-yard field goal for the Camels in overtime before Hughes' game-winning TD.
The game was Campbell's fifth one-score game of the season (1-4).
Hughes ended the day with 120 yards rushing and a TD on 21 attempts, also throwing for 282 yards and a score on 25-of-37 passing, helping the Tribe roll up 505 yards of total offense, including 223 yards rushing.
Raymond added 78 yards and a TD on the ground, while Wright led eight Tribe receivers to catch a pass with four grabs for 63 yards.
Luke Banbury led the Tribe defensively with 12 tackles, with Harrison Johnson adding 10 stops.
Cowan picked up his second career, and second 100-yard rushing game of the season, totaling 107 yards and two touchdowns, adding two catches for 15 yards to lead Campbell to 424 yards of total offense, its fourth time over 400 yards this year, and 253 yards rushing, the team's third time over 200 yards in 2025.
Kamden Sixkiller completed 15-of-22 passes for 136 yards with 58 yards rushing, while
Randall King added 61 yards receiving on four catches.
Defensively,
Logan Livermon posted a career-high 13 tackles, including a sack, while
KJ Scott added 12 tackles.
Next week, the Camels will host in-state foe Elon in their home finale on November 15 (2:00 p.m.) before rounding out the 2025 season at Towson on November 22.
