BUIES CREEK – The Fighting Camels earned their tenth straight victory with a four-set win over Northeastern on Senior Day. The 10-match win streak ties the longest streak since 2022.
Campbell remains in a tie for first place in the CAA at 20-5, 12-2. The 20-win mark is Campbell's most since 21 in 2021, and the most in a regular season since 2017.
The blockers showed up in a big way today with 17 stuffs, the most in a match since 2022.
Aley Clent led the way with 9 to tie a career high, while
Hailey Heytvelt added seven. The front row came up with seven blocks in the fourth set alone to help give Campbell the victory.
Maja Daca led the offense with 12 kills on .320 hitting.
Gwen Wolkow added 11, with Clent and
Abbie Tuyo notching nine each.
Bella Illig anchored the back row with 18 digs.
Campbell's offense was at its best early, hitting .378 in a 25-19 first set. Clent helped get the party started with five kills in the first.
A balanced attack effort helped the Camels battle to a 25-22 second set win. The Camels trailed for most of the set, but finally took a lead at 19-18 and never gave it back.
Campbell faltered in the third set, hitting .083 and finishing with 10 less kills than the Huskies in the frame to fall 25-23.
The defense stepped up late and held Northeastern to hitting .000 in the fourth set to help Campbell to the 25-18 set win.
Campbell enters the final weekend tied for first in the CAA with Hofstra. The Camels round out the season at NC A&T. First serve Friday is slated for 6pm with the season finale Saturday at 4 o'clock.
