Camels beat Hofstra for fifth straight win

BUIES CREEK - Campbell won its fifth straight and completed the season sweep of Hofstra with a 75-52 win Saturday afternoon. The Camels led by as many as 35 and connected on 13 three pointers to pick up another 20-point victory. The win streak is Campbell's longest since winning nine in a row late in the 2020-21 season.

Campbell goes over .500 for the first time this season at 12-11, 7-3, while Hofstra falls to 12-11, 4-6.

Four of Campbell's five wins during the recent hot streak have been by 23 points or more. Those wins include a win over William & Mary who featured the league's top offense. And two wins over Hofstra that touted the league's top defense.

The Camels had another blazing start today, shooting 60% from the first half and were a perfect 7-7 inside the arc. Campbell connected on eight threes in the first half as well, two from Tasos Cook and two from Colby Duggan. Duggan capped the first half by coming up with a steal and banking one home from well beyond half court. Duggan's fireworks gave Campbell a 43-20 lead at the half.

The Camels kept rolling in the second half and pushed the lead to as many as 35 with 4:42 to play. Campbell's made-two-pointer streak finished at 10-10 after three more went down early in the second half. Despite Hofstra closing the game on a 12-0 run, Campbell still cruised to a 23-point win.

Only two Camels scored in double figures tonight as part of a balanced scoring effort, with 15 apiece from Duggan and Nolan Dorsey. Cam Gregory and Tasos Cook both added nine.

With 13 made threes on the night, Campbell has now made 10+ in four straight games for the first time in 10 years (2014-15 season), and has hit 48 total threes in its last four games. The Camels have reached that mark on 42% from downtown while holding opponents to only 22%.

Campbell is now halfway through the four-game homestand and awaits a rematch with Elon Thursday night. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. on FloCollege.
