Camels suffer setback at NC A&T

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Campbell fell to NC A&T 53-50 Thursday night in Greensboro. The Camels shot 39% from the floor and went just 3-20 beyond the arc in a night where Campbell's offense never really got going.

The loss drops Campbell to 15-13, 10-5 on the season. NC A&T moves to 6-22, 2-13 on the year.

Campbell struggled to contain Jahnathan Lamothe for the second time this year as he went for a game-high 25 points, 18 of those in the second half.

The Camels shot 0-10 from downtown in the first half but managed to put together a seven-point lead at the break, up 25-18. The Camels played stiff defense, forcing 12 first-half turnovers and holding the Aggies to 33% from the floor. Tasos Cook ripped down seven boards in the first half and had set a new career-high on the glass before the under eight timeout. Duggan led the scoring with six at the half.

While Campbell scored just 25 again in the second half, NC A&T's offense, especially Lamothe, found a bit more rhythm. The Aggies shot 4-9 from distance after halftime and 7-8 at the foul line, an area CU struggled, going just 7-12 on the night. The Camels had the ball last, down three, and had two attempts bounce off the rim ahead of the final horn and a 53-50 final.

Colby Duggan led the Camels with 18 points, despite shooting 1-8 from three. Casos Cook just missed a double-double with 12 points and 8 rebounds as the only other Camel in double figures.

Fifty points is Campbell's lowest scoring output of the season, as Campbell turned it over 14 times for the second time in three games. Campbell forced the Aggies into 18 turnovers, but failed to capitalize and came away with only 7 points off those turnovers.

Campbell now awaits first-place Towson Saturday afternoon in Buies Creek. Tip-off will be at 2 p.m.
