Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Camels fall at home to Towson

BUIES CREEK - The Camels came up only a few shots short in a 76-67 loss to first-place Towson Saturday afternoon in Gore Arena. The game was closer than the final margin indicates, as Towson led by only three points with two minutes to play,

The loss drops Campbell to 15-14, 10-6 in the league. Towson improves to 19-10, 14-2 with the win.

Christian May came out hot for Towson and drilled his first four three point attempts in the early going. The Camels continued to have the answers and never trailed by more than three in the first half. Seven different Camels scored in the first 20 minutes, led by eight points from Nolan Dorsey. Dorsey capped the half with a buzzer-beating three-pointer to tie the score at 38 apiece heading to the locker rooms.

The Tigers were much less reliant on the three-ball in the second half, shooting only 2-4 from three, but were 10-17 from inside the arc. Towson flexed its league-leading defense as Campbell's offense stagnated after halftime and shot only 30%.

After trailing by as many as nine, The Camels stormed back to tie the game with 8:22 to play, on an Elijah Walsh three-pointer, but could get no closer. The Camels were held scoreless the final 2:46 to fall 76-67.

Nolan Dorsey led the Camels with 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. Colby Duggan had an off-night from the floor at only 1-16, but made the most of his trips to the foul line, shooting 10-11 there, to finish with 12 points.

May led the Tigers with 21, while Tyler Tejada added 17, Nendah Tarke had 16 and 10 rebounds, and Dylan Williamson finished with 13.

Both teams hauled in nine offensive rebounds, but Towson capitalized on its chances with 16 second chance points to just four for Campbell.

The Camels have now suffered back-to-back losses for the first time since Jan. 13 and 16, just before beginning their seven-game win streak.

Campbell now awaits its final home game of the season Thursday night against UNCW. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on FloCollege. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for senior day festivities, as Campbell honors six seniors.
