Camels drop final home game to UNCW

BUIES CREEK - Campbell fell to UNCW 79-60 in the final home game of the year. The loss is Campbell's third in a row as CU drops three in a row for the first time in league play this season.

Campbell dorps to 15-15, 10-7 with the loss, and wraps up the home schedule with a 8-6 mark inside Gore Arena. UNCW improves to 23-7, 13-4 in the league.

Campbell got off to a slow start and trailed 17-4 at the first media timeout. UNCW pushed the lead to as many as 20 with 4:47 to go in the first half. Campbell closed the half with a run of its own to get the deficit to a manageable 10 points at halftime, trailing 38-28. Duggan and Dorsey led the way with seven points each at the break.

The Camels scored the first two buckets of the second half to get to single digits and trail by only six, but that turned out to be as close as the Camels would get. UNCW quickly pushed its lead back to double digits and to as many as 24 in the second half behind shooting 67% after halftime. From there UNCW was able to cruise to the 79-60 win.

Duggan led the Camels with 19 points, while Dorsey joined him in double figures with 12 along with eight rebounds.

The Seahawks were led by Harlan Obioha's 18 points, while Donovan Newby added 17 and Khamari McGriff finished with 14.

Campbell had a tough time with Wilmington's size and was outrebounded 35-20 on the night, and allowed 44 paint points.

Campbell connected on just four three-pointers on the evening and shot at just a 21% clip.

The Camels wrap up the regular season Saturday at Charleston. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. on  FloCollege.
