Hot shooting Camels blow by Stony Brook 76-51

Camels shoot 60.4 percent from the field, best mark against a Division-I team since 2020

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell shot a season-high 60.4 percent from the field and led wire-to-wire in a 76-51 win over Stony Brook Sunday afternoon at Gore Arena.

Four Camels finished in double-figures for a Campbell (16-10, 9-5) team that matched its CAA win total (9) from a year ago after picking up its fourth conference victory at home by 20 or more points. The Camels also move to 11-1 at home this season.

Breauna Ware led all scorers with a career-high 30 points for a Stony Brook (11-14, 6-8) team that defeated the Camels last month up on Long Island.

The Camels opened the game by making their first 13 two-point field goals and led by as many as 16 in the first half. Campbell led by double-digits after a layup from Gianni Boonepushed its lead to as many as 27 late in the fourth quarter.

Ciara Alexander led Campbell with 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field while Jasmine Felton added 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Alexander added two steals and one block while Felton finished with four steals.

Gianni Boone scored 10 of her 13 points in the first half while Olivia Tucker poured in all 11 of her points in the second half for the Camels. Gemma Nunez dished out nine assists marking the eighth time this season she's reached that mark.

Campbell scored a season-high 58 points in the paint and added 15 points off 18 turnovers and 31 points off the bench. The Seawolves were limited to 35.1 percent (20-of-57) from the field and 20.0 percent (3-of-15) from three.

Ware made 11-of-24 shots from the field and added seven rebounds for the Seawolves while Shamarla King finished with nine points and nine boards. Stony Brook finished with a 37-25 edge on the boards with 19 rebounds coming from the offensive glass.

Campbell's 60.4 percent (32-of-53) shooting percentage marks the best in a game against a Division-I foe since shooting the same exact mark against Winthrop on Dec. 31, 2020.

Next up, Campbell heads on the road for the final time this regular season taking on Towson on Friday before facing Drexel on Sunday.
