BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Coming off a sixth-straight top six finish,
Alicia Olsson of Campbell University has been named Coastal Athletic Association women's golfer of the week.
Olsson finished third with an 8-under 208 (71-70-67) in the 75-golfer field at the Daniel Island Invitational, leading Campbell to its fifth top five showing in six tournaments this season.
Ranked No. 72 in the nation, Olsson notched her sixth top six finish in as many starts this season and fifth top five effort. The sophomore from Amal, Sweden, made 13 birdies and 36 pars to counter just five bogeys over 54 holes on the par-72, 6146-yard course.
Olsson's final round featured six birdies, including four straight on holes 5-8 before finishing with a score of 5-under for the round, just one stroke off her collegiate low.
The 2024 CAA rookie of the year, Olsson lowered her scoring average to 70.4 on the season. Olsson's 208 total for 54 holes is tied for eighth lowest in Campbell women's golf history.
The honor is the second of the season for Olsson and fourth of the campaign for a Campbell female golfer.
Mira Berglund was named CAA golfer of the week Sept. 11 and Oct. 23.
Ranked No. 47 in the nation, Campbell continues its spring season Mar. 10-11 with the Briar's Creek Invitational hosted by the College of Charleston at the Golf Club at Briar's Creek in Johns Island, S.C.
