Four Camels earn CAA postseason honors

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Gemma Nunez was named to the All-CAA Second Team and All-Defensive Team, Gianni Boone was named to the All-CAA Third Team and both Ciara Alexander and Jasmine Felton earned All-Rookie Team honors to headline Campbell's CAA postseason awards.

One of five players in the country to average five or more points, rebounds and assists along with two or more steals, Nunez ranks sixth nationally averaging 6.3 assists per game and 79th nationally with 2.2 steals per game. The Spaniard has four games with 10 or more assists and five outings with nine assists. Named CAA Player of the Week once this season, Nunez has 10 games with double-digit points and has totaled two double-doubles, one each with assists and rebounds. She has multiple steals in 23 of 30 games, including swiping a career-best six against Drexel on Feb. 21. This is the first conference postseason honor for Nunez.

The top scoring option for Campbell, Boone leads the Camels averaging 11.2 points per game. A native of Washington, D.C., Boone has scored 20 points or more three times this season including dropping a career-high tying 21 points at Stony Brook on Jan. 26. Boone also notched her first career double-double behind 20 points and 10 boards in a win over UNCW on Jan. 17. This is the first conference postseason award for Boone since being named to the Big South All-Freshman team in 2022-23.

One of the top options coming off the Campbell bench, Alexander ranks third on the team scoring 8.8 points per game and is fifth with 4.4 rebounds per game all while averaging just 15.7 minutes per game. A two-time CAA Rookie of the Week, Alexander has scored in double-figures 15 times including pouring in a career-best 20 points in 24 minutes against Northeastern on Feb. 7.

A three-time CAA Rookie of the Week, Felton is shooting 67.2 percent (84-of-125) on 2-pointers this season, tied for the seventh-best percentage in the nation. She leads the Camels with 5.5 rebounds per game, ranks third scoring 8.8 points and ranks second with 1.4 steals per game. Felton has scored in double-figures in 11 games including eight times in conference and leads the Camels with 11 blocks in CAA play.

Both Alexander and Felton are the third pair of freshman to be named to a conference All-Rookie team under head coach Ronny Fisher, joining Ashlyn Hampton and Kyra Davis (2018) and Shy Tuelle and Lauren Carter (2019).

Seeded third for the CAA Championship, Campbell has a double-bye for the tournament and will play the winner of Elon vs. Hofstra/Northeastern in the quarterfinal round at CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C. on Friday at 8:30 PM.
