EVANSVILLE, IND. - Meredith Raley scored 20 points, Madison Webb added 13 and Southern Indiana defeated Campbell 60-51 in the second round of the WNIT Sunday night at Liberty Arena.
Playing in her final collegiate game, Courtney Dahlquist led Campbell (22-13) with 20 points, draining a career-high six three-pointers.Â
Raley scored seven of the final 11 points for Southern Indiana (23-12), helping the Screaming Eagles advance to the Super 16 round.Â
Both sides battled through the first three quarters as neither Campbell or Southern Indiana led by more than six.Â
The Screaming Eagles pushed its lead up to eight early in the fourth quarter on a three by Vanessa Shafford. Campbell cut the deficit back to two on back-to-back treys from Dahlquist with 4:40 to go. Southern Indiana responded by scoring off turnovers on back-to-back possessions.Â
Gemma Nunez scored on a second-chance layup for the Camels to make it a four-point game before Raley hit a second-chance bucket of her own along with a three to give Southern Indiana its largest lead of the night 54-45 with 1:15 remaining. The Screaming Eagles, who made 19-of-20 free throws overall, converted 6-of-6 shots from the charity stripe in the final minute to seal the game.
Gianni Boone added seven points and eight rebounds while Gemma Nunez finished with six points, five rebounds and six assists.Â
Dahlquist, whose 72 threes on the year rank third in Campbell single-season history, added seven boards.
Audrey Fuller finishes her career with 123 appearances, tied for the fourth most in program history behind former teammates Brittany Staves (142), Shy Tuelle (151) and Taya Bolden (152).
Southern Indiana shot 33.3 percent (18-of-54) from the field and 26.3 percent (5-of-19) from three. Campbell shot 31.6 percent (18-of-57) overall and made 10-of-33 attempts from three. The Screaming Eagles scored 13 points off 18 turnovers and held a 26-14 edge in paint points.
In its ninth-season under head coach Ronny Fisher, Campbell won 22 games and finished runner-up in the CAA Championship. After being picked eighth in the CAA preseason poll, the Camels went on to earn an at-large bid to the WNIT, winning its first-ever game in the tournament over Coastal Carolina.Â
