Campbell student-athletes round out record-setting season in the classroom

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell student-athletes have notched yet another record-setting academic year in the classroom, setting new highs for both overall and individual team grade point averages (GPA).

During the 2024-25 academic year, the Fighting Camels set an all-time single year departmental GPA mark with a 3.261 across all 21 NCAA Division I varsity sports.

The department also saw another single semester departmental record, logging a mark of 3.301 for the Spring 2025 term. Of its 21 sports, 20 reported cumulative team GPAs of 3.0 or better for the semester.

Headlining the group was the swimming program, which tallied both a yearly and single semester Campbell record GPA, posting a 3.849 this spring, with a yearly team GPA of 3.810.

Five teams achieve new single semester high GPAs, including Football, Men's Golf, Softball, Swimming and Volleyball.

Additionally, nine teams notched program bests for the 2024-25 academic year, including Baseball, Men's Cross Country, Football, Men's Golf, Men's Track & Field (indoor and outdoor combined), Softball, Swimming, Women's Track & Field (indoor and outdoor combined) and Volleyball.

The Fighting Camels have now produced 17 straight semesters with a departmental GPA of at least a 3.0. For the semester, 10 teams reported a GPA of 3.4 or higher, while 18 teams had a yearly team GPA of a 3.0 or higher.

In all, 74 student-athletes (19 percent of all student-athletes) posted a perfect 4.0 semester, with 41 maintaining a 4.0 for the entire year. 256 Camels reported a semester GPA of 3.25 or higher (66 percent), with 228 for the academic year, while 308 collected a GPA of 3.0 or higher for the semester (79 percent), and 281 matched that number for the year.
