MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – The Fighting Camels dropped their second game of the CAA Championship to No. 2 UNCW, 6-0, Thursday night at The Ballpark at Patriots Point.

The Seahawks improved to 33-22, and the Camels now sit at 25-30.

Campbell is still alive in the CAA Championship, and they'll face the winner of Elon and Charleston Friday afternoon at 3:00. UNCW advanced to take on Northeastern Friday night.

Starters
Zach Sabers (2-2) and Zane Taylor (11-2) come out strong, each throwing three strikeouts in the first inning.

The Seahawks struck first in the second inning, as Aidan Evans scored on a bases-loaded double play with no outs. A two-run home run by Bryan Arendt in the third inning gave UNCW a 3-0 advantage.

Dalen Thompson and
Jonah Oster opened the fourth inning with a walk and a double to put runners on second and third, but the Seahawks got out of danger with two strikeouts and a foul out to the catcher.

UNCW added another run in the fifth inning on an error, and another error in the seventh inning from Campbell allowed Trevor Lucas to score before Kevin Jones knocked an RBI double to make it 6-0.

Sabers ended his night after 6.0 innings with seven strikeouts, one off his season high.

Taylor, the CAA Pitcher of the Year, continued his strong performance on the mound by sitting the Camels down in order in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. He finished his night with 8.0 innings, three hits, one walk and 14 strikeouts.

Drew Siegner pitched the final two innings for Campbell, and Aubrey Smith faced the Camels in the top of the ninth for UNCW, allowing just one hit to go with two strikeouts.

The Camels are back on the field tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 to take on the winner of No. 4 Charleston and No. 6 Elon (11:00 a.m.). The action will be streamed live on FloCollege. Â
