Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pair of second half goals leads Campbell past Radford, 3-1

Garrison, Kanaar record first collegiate goal

RADFORD, Va. – Campbell women's soccer (2-0-1) remains unbeaten with a dominant second half performance, scoring a pair of goals, to defeat Radford (1-2-0), 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Cupp Stadium.

Sophomore duo Gillian Garrison and Ava Kanaar each tallied their first collegiate goal in the contest.

Garrison gave the Camels the early, 1-0, lead in the 11th minute finishing off a set piece from Abygaelle Normand. Normand took the Camels first corner of the contest before Grace Bannon quickly tapped it over to Garrison for the score.

Radford evened the score midway through the half, but Campbell came out after the break with a lot of momentum taking nine shots compared to the Highlanders four in the final 45 minutes.

Mia Fairchild put the Camels back in front, 2-1, in the second half after finding wide open space off a free kick from Abby Connolly for her first goal of the season.

Just four minutes late, Kanaar doubled the advantage in the 61st minute with her first collegiate goal. Susan Guzman and Natalie Jamison tallied assist on the goal.

Anais van Doesburg held strong in goal recording four saves on the day and gave up just her first goal of the season.

Campbell finished with a 16-9 advantage in shots and 7-1 edge in corner kicks. Samantha Witte took a match high three shots with Connolly, Garrison, and Kanaar, each taking two.

Quotable from head coach Jeff Gross
"Each game is a learning experience early in the season. Each win is special particularly when it is done versus a good team on the road. Our team shows a willingness to learn and apply themselves quickly to the lessons learned. We've still got a ways to go but this was a very good step! Roll Humps! CU Thursday at home!"
