Camels release non-conference schedule

BUIES CREEK - Campbell has finalized its non-conference schedule for the 2025-26 season. The schedule shapes up to be the most challenging in program history for first-year head coach John Andrzejek, with the Camels facing six games against high-major programs.

"This year we really wanted to challenge ourselves in the non-conference by playing some of the marquee programs and brands in America," Coach Andrzejek said. "I like our team and I think it's a very growth-minded group that will respond to challenges and learn from adversity. This is without a doubt the toughest schedule this program has ever faced. We should have plenty of motivation to have competitive and purposeful practices throughout fall training camp. It is our top priority to make sure we are well prepared for CAA play. This schedule will do that!"

The 13-game slate features five home games and eight road games.

Campbell will open the '25-'26 regular season Nov. 3 at Wisconsin in the first-ever meeting on the hardwood between the Camels and Badgers.

Three days later, the Camels also face another first-time foe when CU journeys to West Virginia of the Big 12.

The home opener is slated for Nov. 9 against Western Michigan at 12:30 in what will be the first meeting between the Camels and Broncos.

Campbell then plays at home against Barber-Scotia on Nov. 13.

A trip to a multi-team event at Weber State in Ogden, Utah includes a Nov. 19 contest against the host Wildcats of the Big Sky Conference, plus a Nov. 21 game vs. Western Athletic Conference member Texas-Arlington.

On Nov. 25, the Camels will make the two-hour trip up US 421 to Winston-Salem to take on Wake Forest for the first time since the 2000-01 campaign.

December 2 features a contest at Penn State – the second meeting all-time between the Camels and Nittany Lions. CU opened the 2017-18 schedule at PSU with an 86-76 loss despite a (then) school Division I era road game record 39 points from Chris Clemons.

Campbell returns to The Creek for a pair of home games, starting with Virginia Lynchburg on Dec. 7.

Campbell then hosts Ball State in Gore Arena on Dec. 14 in just the second meeting between the teams. The first fell in 1990 at their place in Muncie, Ind.

A second journey to Spokane, Wash., is on the docket for Dec. 17 at Gonzaga. Campbell dropped a 74-52 decision to the 14th-ranked 'Zags in the first meeting between the schools on Dec. 19, 2012 at The Kennel.

Campbell travels to Minnesota on Dec. 21 to meet the Golden Gophers for the second time in program history.  On Dec. 1, 1997, the Camels dropped a hard-fought 67-57 decision at the Big Ten power.

Non-conference play wraps up at home just ahead of the holidays against Green Bay (Dec. 23), the second leg of a home-and-home series that saw the Camels leave Green Bay with a 72-66 victory.

"We are looking forward to hosting some talented teams from the MAC and Horizon League in Gore Arena this season," Coach Andrzejek said. "WMU features a pair of incandescent scorers in Jayden Brewer from FIU and Justice Williams from Robert Morris, where he was a teammate last season with DJ Smith!

"Ball State is a talented team that had a great deal of success this offseason in the transfer portal. I know they'll be tough and aggressive, especially on the glass and driving to the basket. It will be a good challenge for our group.

"Green Bay had a strong offseason in the portal and has a talented group that will be picked to jump up the Horizon League standings. With a quick turnaround after playing at Minnesota, we will need all of our fans here and loud for that matinee battle before we head into Christmas."

The 13-game non-conference schedule sets up the Camels for the CAA schedule to begin on Dec. 29. Click here for more on this season's CAA schedule.
