ELON, N.C. – The Fighting Camels outshot the Phoenix, 4-2, in a damp, defensive battle that ended in a 0-0 draw Friday night at Rudd Field.
Â
Campbell (3-2-4, 1-0-2 CAA) extended its unbeaten streak to four matches, while the Phoenix (5-1-3, 2-0-2) remain unbeaten at home on the year. Elon maintains its position atop the CAA South Division with eight points, and the Camels (five points) solidify their third-place position through this week's competition.
Â
Max Leviton and Jackson Leavitt, the top two CAA goalies in terms of save percentage, each secured the shutout. Leavitt saved the two chances on goal from CU for his CAA-leading sixth shutout of the year. Leviton parried one attempt, the only shot on goal from Elon on the night, to secure his third shutout this season.
Â
Marco Wright and
Xander Martin were responsible for Campbell's on-target attempts, while Jordin Wilson forced the save out of Leviton in the first half.
Â
The two teams played through heavy rain in the first half before it subsided around halftime. The competition proved physical between the opponents, with Campbell being called for 14 fouls against seven for Elon. Each squad was penalized with three yellow cards.
