WILLIAMSBURG, VA. – Campbell completed the weekend sweep of William & Mary with a 3-0 win over the Tribe Saturday inside Kaplan Arena.
The victory moves Campbell to 10-3, 2-0 in the league while W&M drops to 5-8, 0-2.
Campbell took a commanding lead in the blink of an eye in the first set. CU led 5-4 before
Lauren Wheeler served 12 straight points during a 13-0 Campbell run to go up 16-4. The Camels coasted from there to a 25-16 first set.
The Camels notched another set with a 25-21 win in the second set. CU hit only .156 in the set, but built a large enough cushion early to hold on when the Tribe battled back in the later stages of the frame.
Campbell trailed 5-1 early in the third but didn't flinch and quickly evened the score. The Camels took the lead at 16-15 and never gave it, claiming the third set 25-21.
Abbie Tuyo led the offense with 11 kills on .409 hitting, both season bests for the senior.
Lauren Wheeler posted team-highs in assists (17) and aces (4).
Campbell has its first 2-0 start to CAA play since joining the league, last going 2-0 on opening weekend in 2022, the last season in the Big South.
The Camels return to The Creek next weekend to host Charleston. Friday night's contest at 6 p.m. will be Student Day and feature a rally towel giveaway. Saturday is mental health awareness day and begins at 2 o'clock.
