RALEIGH, N.C. – Campbell women's soccer dropped its first road match of the season, 4-0, against NC State on Sunday night at Dail Soccer Stadium.
Campbell (2-3-2) felt the pressure of the NC State offense early on as the Wolfpack took two shots before scoring off a set piece in the third minute of the match. The Camel defense was able to hold steady the rest of the half defending 15 shots and headed into the break down a goal.
NC State (1-5-2) came out of the break continuing to apply offensive pressure scoring three goals in the second half, as the Camels allowed its second most goals all season.
Ava Kanaar led the team with two shots, and four other Camels took a shot apiece.
JLo Varada saw action in goal for the first time this season after replacing Anais van Doesburg in the second half. van Doesburg allowed one goal with three saves and Varada allowed three goals with a save.
Campbell was at a disadvantage in shots, 30-6, and in corner kicks 12-2 on the match. The 30 shots by the Pack were the most shots taken by a Campbell opponent this season.
