Campbell falls at Monmouth

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Campbell dropped game two of its weekend road trip, falling to Monmouth 72-31 Sunday afternoon at the OceanFirst Bank Center.
 
The Fighting Camels now sit at 11-8 overall and 4-2 in CAA play, while the Hawks improved to 12-5 (5-1).
 
Gigi Gamble scored a game-high 30 points. Divine Dibula added 16 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Gianni Boone led the Camels with 8 points. She completed an and-1 opportunity 13 seconds left in the game for her final points, putting her at 1,000 points over her Campbell career. She is the 22nd player in program history to eclipse the total.
 
The Hawks jumped out to a 9-6 lead at the first media timeout, thanks to 80% shooting through the first five minutes. They ended the quarter shooting 8-of-12 to build a 17-10 lead. Five different Camels recorded two points in the first frame.
 
Monmouth's hot shooting continued through the rest of the first half, as the team shot 65% and went into halftime with a 39-16 lead. Gamble led the Hawks with 21 first-half points, including 5-of-6 from three-point range.
 
The Hawks' offense did not slow down in the second half, scoring 18 points in the third quarter and 15 in the fourth.

The Fighting Camels are back on the road for a Friday matchup against Hampton. The game will begin at 7:00 on FloCollege.
