LYNCHBURG, VA. –
Arabella Butera posted wins in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 IM, leading Campbell at the Liberty TYR Senior Celebration on Friday at the Liberty Natatorium.
The Flames (6-0) claimed the matchup 151-102 over the visiting Camels (1-5), topping 10 of the evening's 16 events. Originally a two-day event, the meet was shortened to a single evening due to the threat of winter weather.
Butera notched her first win of the night in the 100 breaststroke, posting a time of 1:06.94, with Camels taking three of the top four finishes in the race.
Sophia Grubbs took runner-up with a time of 1:07.67, while
Kyndall Brown finished fourth with a 1:16.36 mark.
In the 200 IM, Butera also claimed the top spot, tallying a 2:12.92 mark. The senior also helped the Camels secure the win in the 400 medley relay to close out the night, clocking in at 3:40.74.
Brooklynn Kaster added another win for the Camels in the 100 fly, posting a time of 1:02.56.
Bailey Franci and
Katarina Gagnon, meanwhile, both added runner-up finishes, with Franci posting a 2:27.01 mark in the 200 back, while Gagnon clocked in at 10:42.39 in the 1,000 free.
Julia Garcia also tacked on a third place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:14.03.
The Camels will close out the regular season on the road at Virginia, February 5-7, at the Cavalier Invitational. The CAA Swimming & Diving Championships begin on February 25 in Hampton, Va.
