CONWAY, S.C. — Campbell baseball dropped its midweek matchup, 13-7, against ninth-ranked Coastal Carolina on Tuesday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium.
Campbell falls to 3-5 on the season while Coastal Carolina improves to 6-2.
Coastal Carolina (6-2) got the bats going early scoring four runs in the bottom of the opening frame before scoring two more in the second for a 6-0 lead heading into the third.
Campbell's offense got things going in the top of the fourth scoring four runs on four.
Logan Chapman led off the inning with a base hit before
Jett Music drew a seven pitch walk to put a pair of runners on.
Lukas Schramm would follow with his third home run in as many games, a three-run shot to left, to cut the deficit in half, 6-3.
Trent Rumley then put the Camels within two on an RBI groundout, making it 6-4 at the end of the fourth.
Campbell (3-5) continued the scoring in the fifth as Music ripped a two-RBI double off the center field wall to score
Jonah Oster and Chapman evening things up.
Joe Simpson continued the offense giving the Camels its only lead off the game on an RBI double to left center, to make it 7-6.
The Chanticleers quickly responded to the Camels seven unanswered runs by scoring six unanswered runs through the fifth and sixth innings and plating one more in the eighth.
Owen Simmons (0-1) suffered the loss allowing four runs on six hits in an inning of relief.
Mason Smith got the start as three other Camels made appearances in the game.
Chapman and Music tallied their first multi-hit performances of the season with a pair of hits as seven Camels registered hits in the contest. Schramm tallied his second multi-RBI performance with three.
