BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball returned to the win column downing Wright State, 7-3, on Saturday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium.
The Camels improve to 4-6 on the season as Wright State falls to 3-6. The Camels scored in five of the first six innings to power past Wright State who outhit the Camels 8-6.
Wright State (3-6) would opening the contest scoring three runs on three hits and a Camel miscue but the Camels would quickly respond with three of their own to even things up after the first.
Campbell (4-6) matched the Raiders with a trio of runs in the first as
Joe Simpson drew a walk and
Joey Morton reached on an infield single before
Jonah Oster blasted a three-run home run to left field. The home run marks the first of the season for Oster and the Camels eighth.
Simpson continued the offense in the second drawing a bases loaded RBI hit by pitch to give the Camels the lead as that's all it would need.
Trent Rumley would follow with an RBI sacrifice fly in the third to make it 5-3 after four.
The Camel offense would continue in the fifth as
Lukas Schramm launched his team-high fourth home run of the season to extend the lead, 6-3.
Jonah Oster tallied his fourth RBI of the game drawing a bases loaded hit by pitch in the sixth for the Camels final run of the game.
Elijah Clayton led off the inning with a hit by pitcher before a pair of walks by Rumley and Morton loaded the bases.
David Rossow (1-1) settled into the contest after the first working five innings allowing four hits and picked up four strikeouts. The right-hander would go on to toss four shutout innings and kept the Raider offense off balance.
Owen Simmons shut down the Raiders in three innings of work and only surrendered three hits.
Beau Brailey closed things out tossing the final inning and picked up a pair of strikeouts.
Six different Camels registered hits in the game as Oster led going 1-for-4 with a season high four runs batted in. Eight of the nine starters reached base safely as the Camels drew a season high seven walks in the contest.
