Camels fall to Charlotte, 13-5

BUIES CREEK — Campbell baseball fell, 13-5, to Charlotte in midweek action on Tuesday night at Jim Perry Stadium.

Campbell falls to 7-8 on the season while Charlotte improves to 12-4.

Charlotte (12-4) jumped out to an early 5-0 lead in the opening frame and never looked back. After the 49ers took the lead scoring on a stolen base, Alec DeMartino set the tone early with a grand slam to extend the lead. The 49ers offense would continue to score often, scoring again in the third, fourth, and sixth frames.

Logan Chapman put the Camels on the board in the fourth on an RBI infield single plating Andrew Schuldt who led off the inning with a base hit.

Campbell (7-8) continued to cut into the deficit with four runs on three hits in the sixth making it the final, 13-5. Mike Murphy tripled down the right field line to score a pair before Joey Morton doubled to right center to score two more.

Parker Webb (0-1) suffered the loss on the mound after allowing five runs on three hits in two innings.

Four Camels registered multi-hit performances as Carlos Lugo led the way going 3-for-5 with a run scored. Murphy, Schuldt, and Chapman each tallied a pair of hits. The Camels out hit Charlotte 12-10 but left 12 runners on base.
