Camels set for midweek road matchup with Radford

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell Camels continue their 2026 season with a midweek matchup against the Radford Highlanders.

The Camels and Highlanders will meet for the second time in 17 days and the second time this season. The teams first met Feb. 22 in Buies Creek at the Campbell Invitational, where the Camels earned a 13-5 win in six innings.

First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Radford Softball Stadium. Live stats will be available, and the game will stream on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT

Radford enters the matchup at 7-14 and riding a two-game losing streak. The Highlanders went 2-3 at the Virginia Tech Tournament, picking up wins over Bryant and Boston College.

Dakota Redmon was named Big South Pitcher of the Week on March 2 after earning wins over Liberty and UConn at the Liberty Invitational. At the plate, Peyton Simmons leads the Highlanders offensively with a team-best 26 hits and a .400 batting average. Malli Groves holds a team-high 17 RBIs, 12 more than the next highest total on the roster.

SERIES HISTORY

Wednesday's matchup marks the 66th all-time meeting between Campbell and Radford, with the Camels leading the all-time series 46-19. Radford is the fifth-most frequent opponent in program history, as the two schools were longtime Big South rivals.

The teams last met Feb. 22, 2026, at the Campbell Invitational, when Campbell earned a 13-5 win in six innings in Buies Creek. Wednesday's game marks the first meeting in Radford since 2022, when Campbell swept the Highlanders in a three-game series.

LAST TIME OUT

The Camels opened CAA play with a three-game series sweep of Hampton. Campbell scored 40 runs across the series, the most in a CAA series in program history. All three games ended via run rule, and the Camels allowed just two runs across the series, both coming in Sunday's finale.

Campbell was dominant both at the plate and in the circle. Katelyn Hubley started Friday's game against Hampton and pitched five innings in a six-inning shutout. In Campbell's first CAA game of the season, the Henrico, Virginia, native allowed just four hits, none for extra bases, and recorded six strikeouts. Kasey Wolfe carried that momentum into Saturday's game, tossing a complete-game shutout. The junior worked five innings, allowing three hits while recording five strikeouts in the effort.

Haley Krebs led the way at the plate, starting all four games of the week for the Camels at second base and shortstop. The sophomore paced Campbell with a .600/.714/.600 slash line, going 6-for-10 while drawing five walks, scoring five runs and driving in one.

Head coach Emily Carosone became the seventh coach in program history to reach 50 career victories with Campbell's win over Hampton on Friday. She reached the milestone in 78 games, the fastest in program history, one game quicker than her predecessor, Trena Prater.
