BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell softball secured five student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomore
Hannah Cornetto, sophomore
Haley Krebs, junior
Madison Ford, graduate student
Amber DeSena, and senior
Charlie Montgomery all earned the recognition.
To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and either compete in 90% of their team's games or start at least 66% of contests.
Cornetto appeared in and started all 57 games for Campbell. She recorded 40 hits, five home runs and 34 RBIs while leading the team with 374 putouts. Cornetto, who studies Kinesiology on a Pre-Physical Therapy track, maintained a 3.758 GPA.
Krebs started all 50 games she appeared in for the Camels. She posted a .378 batting average, second-best on the team, along with a .451 on-base percentage and 48 hits en route to All-CAA First Team honors. Krebs studies Exercise and Sport Science on a Pre-Occupational Therapy track and carries a 3.780 GPA.
Ford started all 54 games she played at catcher. She totaled 41 hits, including nine doubles, and posted a .416 on-base percentage. Ford, a Sport Management major, maintained a 4.0 GPA.
DeSena appeared in and started all 57 games for Campbell and became the first player in program history to earn CAA Defensive Player of the Year honors while also receiving All-CAA First Team recognition. She hit .363 with 65 hits, 14 doubles and a team-high 18 stolen bases. Defensively, she recorded a .970 fielding percentage across 169 chances. DeSena graduated with a Master of Science in Public Health and a 3.903 GPA.
The 2026 CAA Player of the Year, Montgomery appeared in and started all 57 games for Campbell. She led the team with 79 hits and a .414 batting average while adding a team-best three triples. Montgomery also posted a .988 fielding percentage in center field. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science and a 3.861 GPA.
Montgomery and DeSena have been selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced June 16, 2026.
