BUIES CREEK — A six-run seventh inning lifted the Camels over UNCW, 7-3, on Saturday afternoon at Jim Perry Stadium.
The Camels returned to the win column to move to 22-12 overall and 15-2 in CAA play. The Seahawks dropped to 20-14 overall and 9-5 in conference play.
David Rossow was stellar on the mound pitching a career-long eight innings allowing just one run on four hits and picked up 11 strikeouts. The 11 strikeouts mark his second-most this season after collecting 13 against NC A&T earlier this season.
Campbell (22-12, 15-2) scored six runs on two hits in the seventh inning to go up 7-1. Andrew Keller gave the Camels the lead 2-1 on a bases loaded RBI groundout before Trent Rumley drew a bases loaded walk to extend the lead.
Joey Morton would then blast his conference lead eighth home run of the season launching a grand slam to left field to make it 7-1 after seven.
The Camels opened the scoring in the third inning on a double steal by Carlos Lugo and Elijah Clayton to make it 1-0 early.
UNCW (20-14, 9-5) countered in the seventh on a solo home run to even things up late before the Camels answered with six runs.
The Seahawks got back in the game in the top of the ninth scoring a pair of runs but Beau Brailey got out of the jam with a ground ball and strike out swinging to end the game.
Brailey (2) picked up the save in relief tossing 0.2 scoreless innings and did not allow a hit.
The Camels collected just four hits off four different batters but managed to register eight free passes.
