WILMINGTON, N.C. — Campbell baseball picked up a marathon win, 16-12, over UNCW on Thursday night at Brooks Field.
Joey Morton launched four home runs in the contest marking the second-most in a single game in program history. The four homers mark the most in a single game since Henry Rochelle blasted five on March 30, 1985 against Radford. Morton has collected 8 RBI tying for the third-most in a single game.
The Camels improve to 37-15 overall and 24-4 in CAA play while UNCW drops to 28-24 overall and 16-12 in conference play.
Campbell (37-15, 24-4 CAA) quickly jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the top of the opening frame. The top of the order drew three free passes to load the bases before Morton launched a grand slam to right center to put the Camels up 4-0.

UNCW (28-24, 16-12 CAA) cut into the lead in the second on a grand slam and two-run shot making it 7-6 after two innings.
The Seahawks took the lead in the third on its third homer of the game, a two-run shot to go up 8-7.
Morton evened the score for the Camels in the fourth launching his team leading 18th homer of the season. The solo shot tied things up at eight after four innings.
In the fifth, the Camel offense exploded for four runs on a pair of home runs.
Jett Music got things going with a three-run shot to dead center field before Morton became just the eighth Camel to launch three homers in a game and the second Camel this season to complete the mark. The solo shot extended the lead 12-8.
UNCW cut into the lead in the sixth with a pair of runs making it 12-10 after six.

Andrew Keller tabbed a pinch hit two-run homer to extend the lead 14-10. The Seahawks answered with a pair of runs in the eighth with a sac fly and infield single to make it 14-12 heading into the ninth.
The Seahawks looked to answer again in the ninth with a leadoff double and four-pitch walk but a strikeout and double play groundout ended the game.
Camden Wimbish entered in relief just the second inning and went 4.0 innings allowing six runs five hits and picking up seven strikeouts. The seven strikeouts marks the second-most on the season for the junior right-hander.
Jett Music (3-1) picked up the win in relief in 0.2 scoreless innings of work while Lugo (1) earned his first save of the season tossing the final 1.1 scoreless innings.
Morton went 4-for-6 with four homers, eight RBI, and four runs scored while Chapman went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
The Camels collected six home runs for the most in a single game this season and the most since the final game last season against Charleston in the CAA tournament.
