Jett Music tabbed College Baseball Foundation John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Finalist

BUIES CREEK — Sophomore Jett Music was named a finalist for the College Baseball Foundation John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year award as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon. 

Music finished his 2026 campaign slashing .297/.787/.431 at the plate. He registered 46 hits including a conference-lead 22 home runs and 10 doubles. He drove in 56 runs on the season for second-most by a Campbell hitter this season. He led the Camels slugging .787 and was third on the team in on-base percentage. The sophomore registered five multi-homer games on the season and blasted a career-high three against Charlotte on May 5 while driving in a career-high seven runs. 

On the mound, the right-hander finished with a 3-1 record and team-high four saves. He tossed 24.2 innings in his 17 appearances on the bump. He held hitters to just a .228 batting average and picked up 34 strikeouts. Music fanned a career-high seven batters against Wright State on Feb. 27. 

Music was tabbed as the organization's Two-Way Player of the Week back on April 28 after batting .545 (6-11) with four homers, seven runs and seven RBI's in Campbell's 4-0 week capped by a CAA sweep at Charleston. He hit .667 (6-9) and went deep in each game at Charleston, going 2-for-2 with a HR and 3 RBI on Friday and 3-for-3 with a pair of solo shots on Saturday before homering with 2 RBI on Sunday. Music walked four times to finish with a .786 on base percentage while slugging 2.000.

The John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award is presented annually by the College Baseball Foundation to honor the nation's top combo pitcher-position player. Olerud, who was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007, was a standout pitcher and first baseman at Washington State University from 1987 through 1989. The Olerud Award partners with 64 Analytics to assist with the identification of players for the weekly award as well as watch lists.

This year's finalists include some of the most versatile players in college baseball, including junior Jeremy Cheeseman, 1B/RHP, Farleigh Dickinson; junior Evan Dempsey, OF/RHP, Florida Gulf Coast; junior Ryan Kroepel, 3B/RHP, Utah Tech; sophomore Jett Music, OF/RHP, Campbell and sophomore Braydon Kersey, INF/RHP, Mercer. Dempsey was the 2025 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year. Five different conferences are represented by a finalist, including the ASUN, CAA, NEC, SoCon and WAC.

The 2026 John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award will be announced at a press conference scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, June 13, in the media room at Charles Schwab Field, prior to the start of the second day of action at the MCWS.
