BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell University's men's golf and women's swimming programs have earned CAA Team Academic Excellence Awards for the 2025-26 academic year.
The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes the institution with the highest collective grade point average in all 22 sports sponsored by the Coastal Athletic Association. The team GPA is a calculation of the grade point average of each student-athlete who appeared on an institution's roster throughout the final day of their respective championship seasons during the 2025-26 academic year.
During the 2025-26 academic year, the Camel men's golf team compiled a 3.753 GPA, the highest mark set by any Fighting Camel men's program in the last decade. Not only did the Campbell men win two tournaments during the 2026 spring semester, the Fighting Camels compiled a 3.851 GPA, which also stands as the best semester performance by any of the school's varsity programs since 2015.
In addition to the CAA honor, the women's swimming program was honored as a College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Spring 2026 Scholar All-America Team presented by Fitter & Faster Swim Camps. With a combined 3.74 team GPA over the 2025-26 season, Campbell was the only CAA women's swimming program that maintained CSCAA Scholar All-America status (3.0+) and stayed above 3.7 over both the fall 2025 and spring 2026 semesters.
Eight different CAA schools had at least one team earn a Team Academic Excellence Award. Drexel and Hofstra led the way with five award recipients apiece. Elon had four teams honored and UNCW followed with three. Campbell and Villanova had two squads recognized while Monmouth and Northeastern each had one recipient.
The Team Academic Excellence Award winner in 19 of the 22 sports recorded a team grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
