The Camels are seeking their first points of the season, falling to Cal Baptist and Seton Hall during the opening week. Sophomores Kana Dube and Jayco Castro scored, each opening their accounts in Buies Creek. Augustus Squillace recorded two assists on Sunday against Seton Hall to earn his first points in a Campbell uniform.
 
Charleston will play its third consecutive game at home to open the season, drawing against Davidson before defeating Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday, 3-2. Senior forward Matt Lenert was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week, scoring or assisting on all four goals of the opening week.
 
The Cougars were picked to finish third in the CAA South Division preseason poll, one spot ahead of Campbell. Lenert and four of his teammates were named to the Preseason All-CAA Team.
 
The two teams have played evenly throughout the series with a 9-9-2 record through the first 20 matches in the series history. Campbell holds the overall goal advantage, 37-34, but the teams played to a nil-nil draw at Patriots Point last season.
 
CU opens the new season with fresh faces across the board, including a new boss in head coach Ricky Davey. The first-year skipper comes to Buies Creek after serving as the associate head coach at Mercer last season. In addition to his success at the collegiate level, Davey has also proven to be a winning coach in the Atlanta United Academy program with its U14 and U19 squads.
 
Returning midfielder Xander Martin was named to the All-CAA Preseason Team as an honorable mention. He is one of the few returning faces, as the Camels welcome 18 newcomers.
 
The Camels rank second among all Division I teams in total minutes lost from the 2025 season (18,783) and percentage of minutes lost (94.9%).
