BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Fighting Camels open a new month with the first home game of the 2026 season, hosting former Big South foe Longwood Tuesday evening at Eakes Athletics Complex. Campbell is looking for its first win of the season, while the Lancers have started their campaign undefeated.

Xander Martin opened his 2026 ledger with a goal against Charleston on Friday, but the home team came away with a 2-1 victory in the first CAA action of the season for either team.
 
Longwood has opened its season 3-0 for the first time in its history as a D1 squad. The team scored four or more goals in each match with wins over William & Mary, Coastal Carolina and Southern Virginia University.
 
Joshwa Campbell leads the team with four goals, and Brando Bedolla has notched three goals and five assists, the most helpers in the country. As a team, Longwood ranks first in the NCAA in assists per game, points per game and scoring offense. It ranks second in total assists, total goals and total points.
 
Campbell is 9-4-2 all time against Longwood, and all 15 matchups have been since 2012. The teams played to a 2-2 draw last year in Buies Creek. Campbell was responsible for all 10 corner kicks in that contest, and each of them came in the first half.
 
CU opens the new season with fresh faces across the board, including a new boss in head coach Ricky Davey. The first-year skipper comes to Buies Creek after serving as the associate head coach at Mercer last season. In addition to his success at the collegiate level, Davey has also proven to be a winning coach in the Atlanta United Academy program with its U14 and U19 squads.
 
Returning midfielder Xander Martin was named to the All-CAA Preseason Team as an honorable mention. He is one of the few returning faces, as the Camels welcome 18 newcomers.
 
The Camels rank second among all Division I teams in total minutes lost from the 2025 season (18,783) and percentage of minutes lost (94.9%).
