BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell University is one of 88 NCAA Division I programs to earn Presidents Special Recognition status for the Platform Golf Team Academic Award presented by the Golf Coaches Association of America for the 2025-26 season.
With a 3.753 combined grade-point average, the Fighting Camels received GCAA Presidents Special Recognition status for the second-straight year. That total was highest GPA among Campbell's men's sports teams.
A GCAA-record 331 schools across six divisions earned a Platform Golf Team Academic Award. Presidents Special Recognition status was achieved by 155 programs for having an average team GPA of 3.5 or above.
"Our players have had quite the summer earning several academic honors from various associations," said head coach
Matt Moot. "This award encompassing the entire team makes it even more special and is a testament to the culture these young men have established. It is important to us to recruit outstanding students who have the desire to come to Campbell for more than just golf. Watching them develop into successful collegiate athletes is fulfilling and makes me excited to do it all again in a few weeks."
Not only did the Campbell men win two tournaments during the 2026 spring semester, the Fighting Camels compiled a 3.851 GPA, which also stands as the best semester performance by any of the school's varsity programs since 2015.
All eight players on the Campbell men's roster finished the term with at least a 3.4 GPA, seven had a mark of 3.75 or higher, including
Petter Dale,
Malik Dao,
Logan Graf and
Erik Johansson, all of whom posted perfect 4.0 GPAs.
Campbell's men's golf team has produced the department's highest GPA among men's programs in five of the last six – and 10 of the last 12 – semesters.
Graf, Johansson and
Benjamin Killingstad were named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar by the GCAA as well as Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators.
The Fighting Camels also earned the 2025-26 CAA Team Academic Excellence Award with the highest team GPA of all Coastal Athletic Association men's golf programs.
