BUIES CREEK — Campbell women's soccer fell 2-1 to UNC Greensboro in its final non-conference matchup of the season on Thursday night at Eakes Athletics Complex.
The Camels enter conference play with a 3-4-2 overall record while UNCG improves to 4-3-1 on the season.
Just eight minutes into the match, UNCG converted on a set piece to take an early 1-0 lead. Avery Barr headed the set piece into the back of the net off the assist from Cornelia Winther just outside the box.
The Camels would quickly respond just over a minute later as Zahra Fepssi converted penalty kick for her first goal of her senior campaign.
Gillian Garrison drew the foul inside the box to give the Camels its first penalty kick of the season.
The squads headed into the half all square with the Spartans out shooting the Camels 9-5.
UNCG picked up offensive momentum before scoring in the 89th minute for the late go-ahead goal.
The Camels outshot the Spartans 11-5 in the second half and led the match with five corners but couldn't get past the UNCG defense.
