BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Coming off a runner-up finish in its season opener, Campbell continues its fall schedule next week with the Brittany Kelly Classic, hosted by Ball State at The Players Club at Woodland Trails in Yorktown, Ind.
 
Campbell freshman Miah Rivas won the individual title at 3-under par and the Camels finished second at 5-over in the 23-team Golfweek Fall Challenge at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club in Pawley's Island, S.C. Fanni Gronlund and Jade Potter tied for fifth to lead CU to its 10th top-two finish in the Golfweek event since 2012.
 
Next week's tournament marks a homecoming of sorts for first-year Campbell head coach Val Patino, who spent two seasons (2022-24) on the Ball State staff before accepting an assistant coaching spot at CU in the summer of 2024.  She was promoted to head coach in July.
 
The 54-hole, 2-day, 15-team event includes Notre Dame of the ACC, plus 13 other schools located in the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes region.  Campbell is the lone team in the field from the Southeast U.S.
 
Patino's lineup will again include Rivas, Potter, Gronlund, and freshman Yukino Kudo, plus sophomore Linn Svedlund.  Freshman Louisa Bloomfield will compete as an individual.
 
Following Sunday's practice round, the teams will play 36 holes on Monday, followed by Tuesday's final 18.  Live scoring will be available at Scoreboard.clippd.com.
 
The event is named in memory of former Ball State standout Brittany Kelly, who was named the 2022 Indiana PGA Golf Professional of the Year. The first female recipient of the honor, which originated in 1955, Kelly was a three-time All-Mid-American Conference selection and a two-time All-American Scholar during her Cardinals career.  After a battle with ovarian cancer, she passed away at the age of 32 on Aug. 31, 2021, just prior to her induction into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame.
 
Next week's tournament marks Campbell's first trip to the Hoosier State in nearly 20 years since the Camels won the Shoot-out at the Legends in Oct. 9-10, 2006, at the Legends GC in Franklin, Ind.

The Course – The Players Club at Woodland Trails (Par 72, 6291 yards): Named by Golf Digest as the top public access course in Indiana, The Players Club features bent grass greens, tees and fairways.  Water comes into play on seven holes of the Gene Bates design that navigates rolling terrain characteristic of east-central Indiana. The property incorporates wooded corridors and open meadow areas, with elevation changes that provide natural variety to the routing.
 
The Coach: Val Patino is in her third season on the Fighting Camel staff and first a head coach after being promoted from associate head coach this summer.  In two seasons assisting Hall of Fame coach John Crooks, Patino helped lead the Camels to one postseason bid (2025) and a pair of third-place finishes in the Coastal Athletic Conference Championship.  She has mentored 2025 CAA golfer of the year Alicia Olsson and the 2025 CAA rookie of the year Fanni Gronlund.  A former five-time Big Sky all-conference performer at Idaho, Patino was named assistant coach at Campbell in August 2024 and elevated to Associate Head Coach one year later.  She
spent two years as graduate assistant coach at Ball State.

Freshman Miah Rivas (Guadalajara, Mexico) became the first Campbell women's golfer in program history (since 1989-90) to win her collegiate debut, Sept. 6-8, at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.  At Caledonia, she shot (68-73-69—210) to finish at 3-under par for a one stroke win in the 120-golfer field.  She was named CAA golfer of the week Sept. 9.  Rivas was the 10th Campbell freshman to win a tournament and the first since Isabella Hahne won the Sea Best Intercollegiate in the spring of 2023.  Rivas has been ranked among the top five players in Mexico and is coming off a summer when she won three tournaments – the National Cup José de Jesús Rodríguez, Mexican Olympics CONADE and the Gaby López Open.

Senior Jade Potter (Edinburgh, Scotland) posted her second career top-5 finish at the Golfweek Fall Challenge (72-70-72—214, +1), where she matched her collegiate low score in the second round.  Potter was a member of the 2026 CAA All-Championship team after turning in a career-best T4 finish at the league tournament.  She compiled a career-best 76.7 scoring average in '25-26. Over the summer, she represented Scotland at the European Ladies Team Championship and Home Internationals.

Junior Fanni Gronlund (Kirkkonummi, Finland) owns the 12th-lowest scoring average (min. 50 rounds) in school history (74.93).  She has posted four top-10 finishes in 21 outings and is coming off a career-best T5 effort (67-75-72—214, +1) at the Golfweek Fall Challenge.  She posted a collegiate-low 67 in the opening round at Caledonia.  Gronlund, who led the team with a 74.3 scoring average in '25-26, placed among the top-10 golfers in both the '25 (T10) and '26 (7th) CAA Championship.  Over the summer, Gronlund won the Finnish Strokeplay Championship and led Finland to a fourth-place finish in Women's European Team Championship.  She was named CAA Rookie of the Year in 2025 and is a two-time WGCA All-America Scholar.

Freshman Yukino Kudo (Tokyo, Japan) made her first collegiate start at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, where she finished T43 (71-76-74—221, +8).  A graduate of Montverde Academy in Florida, Kudo won the opening event in the 2025 IJGA × NXXT College Pathway Series and competed in the Florida State Girls Junior Championship.  She also won the 2025 Lake Nono Junior Open.

Sophomore Linn Svedlund (Uppsala, Sweden) will made her season debut at the Brittany Kelly Classic.  Last season, she posted a 78.2 scoring average over 20 rounds and turned in a collegiate-low, even-par 71 at the Mercedes Benz Intercollegiate.  She logged a season-best T27 finish at the Edisto Island Invitational.  Svedlund compiled one victory and nine top 10 finishes in 14 World Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR) events. She was ranked sixth among Swedish U18 girls.

Freshman Louisa Bloomfield (Braunschweig, Germany) will compete at the Brittany Kelly Classic as an individual.  In her collegiate debut at the Golfweek Fall Challenge, Bloomfield finished T77 (77-74-77—228, +15).  She helped her club win the second division title in the 2026 German National League and competed in the German National Championship.  Bloomfield won the GVNB Landesmeisterschaften Damen WAGR event, finished fourth at 2025 German National Match Play Championship and eighth at the 2025 German U18 Girls national championship.
