Gators top Camels

GAINESVILLE, FLA. – Florida posted 281 first half yards and Vernell Brown III returned a pair of punts for touchdowns in the second quarter, leading Florida over visiting Campbell on Saturday, 52-3, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The Gators improved to 2-0 on the season, handing Campbell (2-1) its first loss of the 2026 campaign.

Saturday's attendance of 88,863 at The Swamp marked the largest crowd Campbell has ever played in front of at any venue in its history, surpassing last season's game at NC State (56,919, 10/4/25).

Brown posted back-to-back punt returns for TDs of 64 and 70 yards, totaling 173 punt return yards on four attempts on the night, adding three catches for 43 yards. Jadan Baugh also rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns, while Dallas Wilson caught five passes for 104 yards and a score for the Gators.

Aaron Philo, meanwhile, completed 16-of-21 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns.

Campbell limited Florida to seven points in the second half after the 35-point second quarter.

Myles Graham led the Florida defense with seven tackles, including 1.0 stop for loss and a forced fumble.

Kamden Sixkiller completed 16-of-30 passes for 127 yards for the Camels, while Stevie Keener grabbed two catches for 57 yards, both coming on the opening drive of the game.

The Camels' opening drive, which ended in a 29-yard Alex Crabb field goal, went seven plays for 63 yards, including the two Keener catches totaling 24 and 33 yards to set up the score.

Campbell has scored in each of its opening drives this season.

Kaleb Simpkins led Campbell's defense with seven tackles, adding a pass breakup, while Tavales Curry notched 2.0 tackles for loss.
