BUIES CREEK, N.C. –Campbell continues its men's golf fall schedule next week with the FAU Invitational, hosted by Florida Atlantic University at The Bear's Club in Jupiter, Fla.
 
The 12-team field includes eight programs from the Sunshine State, including Big 12 member UCF.  Campbell will be paired with Lipscomb and DePaul for Monday's first two rounds.  The 54-hole event commences with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Monday, then concludes Tuesday.  Live scoring will be available at Scoreboard.clippd.com.
 
Second-year head coach Matt Moot will field the same lineup that started the year with a fifth-place finish at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate.  Senior Joachim Larsen Tegner and sophomore Guillermo Ochoa tied for ninth at 5-under par in the season-opening event.
 
Campbell returns six players who combined to lead the team to six top-four showings last season, including first place finishes at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate and the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate.

The Course: The Bear's Club (Par 72, 7300 Yards)
At The Bear's Club, a golf community nestled among 369 immaculate sylvan, sandy acres a mile from the Atlantic, Jack Nicklaus expertly transformed the native environment with his exacting standards of design. The result is an 18-hole championship course – a gently rolling 7,300-yard layout that exudes a Lowcountry feel as it moves through a property rich in native vegetation, old oaks, pines, cypress trees and wetlands areas.  Aesthetically and strategically placed throughout are 354 bunkers, many of them steeply flashed. They were inspired by the bunkers at Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Australia, which Jack visited in 1998 when he was captain of the United States Presidents Cup team. A collection of medium-to-large undulating greens demand precision; they are rounded off at the edges and feed into hollows and chipping areas.  The club possesses a memorable collection of par-5 holes, anchored by the gorgeous home hole, which features an inspiring greensite. The long pear-shaped green is tucked into the elbow of a lake, leaving a generous bailout area to the right. Just beyond the water that guards the green sits the impressive stone facade of the grand Tuscan-style clubhouse.
 
The Coach: Matt Moot is in his second season as head coach at his alma mater. He collected his first collegiate coaching victory in his seventh team event – the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate (Mar. 9-10, 2026) and followed that with a first-place finish at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate (Mar. 27-29).  During his time as an assistant or associate on the Camel staff, Moot helped lead Campbell to five NCAA post-season trips, 12 tournament titles and three conference crowns.  Moot helped develop the 2017, 2019 (Jesper Svensson), 2018 (Ray Kraivixien) and 2021 (Pontus Nyholm) Big South Conference golfers of the year as well as four-straight league rookies of the year in Henric Bjelke (2022), Tim Holmberg (2023), Erik Johansson (CAA 2024) and Benjamin Killingstad (CAA 2025).  During his playing career (2007-11) at Campbell, Moot compiled 11 top-10 individual finishes and was a two-time Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.  He competed in the 2009 and 2011 NCAA regionals.

Senior Joachim Larsen Tegner (Lier, Norway) has compiled the sixth-lowest scoring average (72.59) in Campbell Division I (since 1985) history with 12 career top 10 finishes in 32 starts.  He has played par, or better, golf 45 times in 93 rounds, with 17 outings in the 60s.  He opened the year with a T9 finish (68-69-74—211) at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate.  An All-CAA second-team performer in 2025, Larsen Tegner was runner-up (his best collegiate finish) at the 2026 Cutter Creek Intercollegiate (67-72-70—209).  He represented Norway in the 2025 World Amateur Team Championship.

Sophomore Guillermo Ochoa (Morelia, Mexico) tied for ninth place (69-72-70—211) at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate in his Campbell debut.  He joined the Camel program as a transfer from Wagner College, where he played in six events, including the 2026 NEC Championship.  He was the individual runner-up at the 2026 Carpetbagger Classic (70-68—138) and named NEC Golfer of the Week.

Junior Benjamin Killingstad (Blommenholm, Norway) already stands 13th in CU men's golf history with a 73.02 career stroke average.  He has played par, or better, golf 26 times in 63 career rounds with five career top-10 finishes.  He opened the season with a T30 finish (69-75-72—216) at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate. Named Cobalt Golf GCAA All-America Scholar in 2025-26, he posted his best collegiate performance – a runner-up finish – at the Palmetto Intercollegiate (70-64-79—203, -7), where he shot a collegiate low 6-under 64 in the second round.  He was named the CAA rookie of the year in 2024-25.

Sophomore William Sundborn (Oslo, Norway) posted a 72.74 stroke average (third-best all-time among Campbell freshmen) over 11 events in 2025-26.  He has played par, or better, golf 13 times in 34 career rounds.  Sundborn opened the season with a T53 showing (72-74-75—221) at Myrtle Beach.  He registered his best collegiate finish (T4) at the Sam Ryder Intercollegiate (69-74-73—216, E) and was CU's low individual (T10) at CAA Championship (68-72-72—212).

Senior Erik Johansson (Hollviken, Sweden) owns the 4th-lowest career scoring average (72.354) in Campbell men's golf Division I (since 1985) history.  He has compiled 8 top-10 finishes in 34 tournaments and has played par, or better, golf in 41 of 99 career rounds with 17 rounds in the 60s.  A two-time All-CAA performer, he is a two-time GCAA All-America Scholar.  During his freshman campaign, he was named CAA rookie of the year, first-team All-CAA, won the 2024 Seahawk Intercollegiate and earned an individual berth in the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional.
